Where is Orleans Guest House Located?
Orleans Guest House is located in the heart of “Mid-City” in a neighborhood called The Faubourg St. John — with easy access to many of NOLA’s most popular attractions.
What are the rates for each unit?
Bayou View is $275/night (January–July) and $225 (August–December)
The Crescent is $375 (January–July) and $325 (August–December)
Other special events throughout the year will moderately affect rates, as well as minimal stay requirements. These changes vary depending on event, schedule associated with the specific event, and the season. When we receive your email or call regarding specific dates you are interested in, we will be happy to provide you with a specific quote, including associated fees.
Do the rates change?
You will notice a modest seasonal rate change for both units — two rates, two seasons, one small variation.
In addition to seasonal variation, certain larger special events (Jazz Fest, Essence Fest, French Quarter Fest, VooDoo Fest, and Mardi Gras) will affect rates. When you inquire about specific dates which may fall into one of theses larger event categories, we will send you a specific breakdown of rates and associated fees in order to calculate the total costs for your stay. Just email us with the dates you are interested in, and we’ll send you the itemization- just like the format utilized in the rental agreement.
Do you offer special rates for a full week? A month?
Absolutely. One free day for weekly rentals and monthly… you guessed it — one free week!
How do I make a reservation?
Simply click “book now” throughout the website and you will be redirected to our preferred booking agent to check the calendar and availability.
Do you take credit cards, checks, cash?
Yes, all three. Booking fees are paid in full, in advance.
Why do I need to sign a rental agreement?
This is a formality to protect both of us and helps to ensure that everything is easily understood, safe, and runs smoothly from check-in to check-out. It’s a standard part of the rental process, just to address the details.
What if I am unable to sign and return the agreement electronically?
It is certainly preferred to sign and return the rental agreement electronically (via docusign). In rare situations, however, we’ll consider getting those signatures by “other” means.
Does orleans guest house rent bikes, scooters, canoes, or kayaks?
No, we don’t rent them on site, but don’t worry! Nearby rental options are available for all four, with delivery.
What is the cleaning fee for?
At OGH, we have each room professionally cleaned between guests. You’ll enjoy a spotless apartment upon arrival (plus a few extras!).
What if I have to cancel my reservation?
Even though we are a small business and operate under a very strict refund policy, we understand things happen! Just email or call us ASAP, and your reservation will be 100% refundable if notified prior to 30 days. At day 29, however, the reservation becomes non-refundable.
What does each unit supply?
Both units supply:
- Sheets and towels (the highest quality, of course!)
- Robes (embroidered with our logo)
- Shampoo, soap, conditioner, body lotion
- Other “emergency-only” toiletries you may have forgotten!
- In each bedroom… combination safe, wood hangers, luggage rack, extra pillows and sheets, optional memory foam bed topper, alarm clock, Smart TV/VCR (basic cable)
- Wifi and multiple “built-in” USB ports at receptacle sites, plus a printer in The Crescent
- Sound system in Bayou View and bluetooth speakers in The Crescent
- Bottled water and juice (orange or apple) in refrigerator — just enough to get you started
- Keurig coffee maker with coffee, cream, sugar, multiple sugar substitutes, and coffee cups (warning… walking distance to 24-hour coffee and beignets!)
- Drinking, juice, and wine glasses (shot glasses for mature guests)
- Cork screws and kitchen utensils (see kitchen info for more details)
- A “guide” to NOLA things to do… eating, entertainment, big attractions, small “of the beaten path” stuff to do (and don’t), emergency phone numbers, etc.
What are the major differences between Bayou View and The Crescent?
- Bayou View has outdoor AND indoor sound system / The Crescent has a docking/speaker combo with bluetooth
- Bayou View has a kitchenette with stainless medium-sized refrigerator, microwave, Kurig coffee (with full condiments, cups, etc.), wine storage / The Crescent has a full kitchen with all utensils, pots, pans, plates, flatware, table dining for six, settings for 8
- Bayou View has walk-in closet / The Crescent has standard closets in each bedroom
- Bayou View has jetted tub and separate shower / The Crescent has a standard-sized tub/shower combo
- Bayou View does not have a grill / The Crescent has an outdoor grill
What do I need to bring?
Beside yourself and a great mood — clothing, and toiletries (kids optional!), keep in mind that the water and juice stocked in your refrigerator on arrival is just enough to get you started. Grocery stores are conveniently located nearby, as well as a farmer’s market every Thursday, practically across the street.
Is there a washer and dryer?
The Crescent has a washer and dryer with detergent and supplies. Bayou View does not have a washer and dryer, but for longer stays and upon request, we can work out laundry service.
Is orleans guest house a bed & breakfast? Is food available?
No, OGH is not a B&B. Food is not provided. However, cooking at The Crescent, dining in and of course, dining out (this is New Orleans!) is strongly recommended.
Is parking available?
Yes, off-street parking for one car is available for both units, but not for RVs.
How do I get the keys and return them?
Your 1st door is closed but unlocked. The 2nd door is about 8 ft. away and contains a combination lock box with your keys to the apartment (The Crescent is ground level private entry, Bayou View is up one staircase to second floor private entry).
Does each unit have an independent entry and exit?
Yes, totally private and independent of the other unit, and also me, the owner. Remember, I’m accessible when needed and invisible when not, kind of!
What if I have additional questions not answered here?
Email us orleansguesthouse@gmail.com or you can call 1-504-330-1412. Voice messages and emails will (usually) be responded to same day during business hours of 9am to 5pm CST.
What about pets?
Yes — pets are welcome at The Crescent and only on a discretionary basis and with a higher cleaning fee ($150 instead of $75). The Damage Policy will apply if it determined that any damage occurred as a result of your pet.
